Readers helping fighting spam
Obvious spam is easy to scroll down. AI can hunt it down also, I guess. But spammers evolve? There are more and more spam comments that one needs to read to find out half way that it's spam. Not fun to be reading everything diagonally to find if it's spam or not.
My suggestion: turn it into a game some bit. Tom's could grant all users that report on spam 1 point for their ranking system, inspiring them to contribute like this. Messages that get let's say 10 reports would be hidden automatically till admins evaluate and delete them, or… more

Faster page loads
The website has a slow response time compared to other websites. I love the content and tend to dread actually using the website because of how slow it is.

We already made some progress on rendering the site faster, but we’ll keep it open as an item that needs to be constantly monitored and improved upon.

In your personal profile, a list of the threads you started
I would like to see in the personal profile that you can view a link to the threads you have started. I have several times tried to go back to a thread that I started that maybe is a week old or so and not been able to find it because of all the traffic that TH gets. I feel that threads get lost, and it would be nice to have a way for the thread starter who wanted the information to be able to track it down without looking through 10 pages of past threads.

get rid of ads that popup on rollover.
i.e., Castrol ad that pops up on rollover. Difficult to bypass with a touchpad and extremely annoying.

Have a simple Poll feature
Along with the QOTDs (question of the days), it would be helpful to have a simply poll/voting feature that can be integrated into articles.

Add a date to each search result in the list. IE It's annoying to open 4 years old gfx card reviews.
I use the search functions extensively, but am discouraged by the lack of a date for articles, reviews and forum chat.
So I often open stuff thats completely irrelevant and thats just such a bummer + waste of time.80 votes -
Get rid of those small clickable images in articles
screenshots of benchmarks and charts are great. but if they are too small to read and require extra clicks to make them readable -- they are all but useless due to the time it takes, especially if one wants to quickly compare 2 or more such images in an article.

Plug your Folding@Home community.
Unfortunately, 40051 is on it's way out of the top 100.
Folding @ home http://folding.stanford.edu/ is a great way to help science and Tom's Hardware, but Tom's needs to help us help Tom's i.e. Advertise a bit.
Team 40051 is happy to have the oldest effin thread at Tom's, but how about a forum section and some front page action.
Better yet, how about having those new servers you need fold some proteins.55 votes -
Make the private message notifications more visible
Most users don't notice the private messages link at the bottom of the page (many probably don't scroll that far down). Unlike before, it doesn't even flash now. It makes it easy to miss when you get a new PM. I think some notification should exist at the top of the forum so it can be seen straight away, and make it flash or something to get people's attention. It doesn't need to be huge, just visible.

Better visibility for private messages will likely be seen in our coming forum software platform update.

Page navigation really sucks
I'm experiencing the pull down menu to close very frequently while I'm trying to go to a certain page. This happens on all multi page articles, reviews, benchmarks, and it's hell annoyance.

Instantly find all articles that contain a product
Make a sorted list of all hardware reviewed and when you click on an item you get a list of all articles that:
- have benchmarks of it
Or - have just new about it36 votes -
Remove full page advertising
Remove the full page advertisements. Reading through one article I had to click through the ad over 10 times.

Remake the charts
Please remake all the charts. Use more filters to narrow down searches and KEEP the filters on even if we change the benchmark and thus show only what we filtered. And the old chart style .. you should reconsider using it. After you select a component or more, it should display only them in a different color in the chart itself.

Collaborative topics
Some type of collaborative method to share the workload to edit and maintain sticky topics or other forum community resources, FAQs and things along that line would be helpful.
Maybe something Wiki-style for FAQs. Or allowing the topic starter to invite one or more others to help edit a topic to keep it current.
And a method to tranfer topic ownership between forum members if the need should arise.

RSS feeds to watch forum threads
simple RSS links to watch a forum thread... should be available to members as well as guests to the forums. This is 90% of the way i keep on top of forums nowa days...

Comment vote downs
Please get rid of this function. If a comment is spam or inappropriate the "Report Inappropriate" is sufficient. The entire voting down and then having that comment hidden is squelching free speech. Not only this, but I find a lot of comments voted down to be perfectly valid and relevant with topics being discussed and voted down simply because most readers simply "don't like" what's being said.
Either remove this function entirely or modify it to see who is voting down. You can't be anonymous to vote, but you aren't held accountable for when you do? Stop promoting mass douchery.

Please update the SSD charts and/or give us detailed and uptodate information on the big upgrade....
I've been researching SSDs and reliable information is out there, it's just all over the place. TH's charts are so far behind the market. Intel G2 vs Falcon II ? C'mon guys, get it together. SSD tech is arguably THE biggest performance upgrade at the moment, so how about feeding me more information and benching the new kids on the block?
